Our Mission Statement     Message From Our President

  Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture (PIHMA), College & Clinic, is the Valley's first and only accredited college of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. PIHMA was founded in 1996 by a group of highly motivated teachers, students, and administrators who sought to bring the ancient practice of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine to Arizona through the creation of Arizona's first educational program designed to meet nationally accredited standards. Now celebrating our twelfth year, PIHMA has many successful graduates now with private and integrated practices and affiliations with Valley hospitals, including Banner Hospitals. We also offer an overseas internship opportunity with Chengdu University in China.

Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture is conveniently located at 301 East Bethany Home Road, Suite A-100, in Central Phoenix, Arizona, equidistant between Interstate I-17 and State Highway 51, making it easily accessible from all parts of the Valley. Our Southwestern, mission-style campus is surrounded by waterfalls and creeks, making it an ideal and beautiful location to study and train in the art, science and philosophy of Oriental Medicine.

A Commitment to Our Students and Graduates

Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture was instrumental in the creation of Arizona's first Acupuncture Board and Legislation. We employ learning techniques to help our students learn and perform better on exams. We also require Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes to relax the body and the mind, allowing students to connect with their own meridian systems and better understand others.

The students and faculty designed PIHMA’s unique alternating weekend schedule with flexible clinic shifts to better accommodate most working schedules. Most importantly, our students find that our faculty and administration are very approachable and responsive to their needs.
