A Holistic Professional Advancement Seminar Series

- Seminar 5: Leadership and Professional Development – January 11-13, 2012
The Series include FIVE- 16 hour Seminars, each presented in a three day weekend on-ground format. Starting on Fridays from 1pm–8pm; Saturdays from 8am–3pm; and, Sundays from 8am–1pm. PIHMA is the location for the Seminar Series.
Fee for each Seminar is $495. For the Whole Series $2,350. Institutional Participation (Commitment of 5 Participants). Each Seminar is $450 and for the Whole Series $2000.
Fees include Seminar Materials, Holistic Portfolio Access, and a Meal Package ( 2 – Continental Breakfasts; Friday Night Buffet Dinner; Saturday Box Lunch; and, Morning and Afternoon Breaks for all three days). Participants may attend one or all of the Seminars.

Seminars begin with a mindfulness exercise and end with a meditative prayer.
Teaching/learning strategies include active participation and discussion, small group work, case studies, demonstration/return demonstration, use of video/ You Tube, electronic chat/discussion boards, seminar assignments and workbook/journaling. Reading will be required. Throughout the Seminars, participants will be exposed to and in some cases trained in (based on time and appropriate scope of practice/credential requirements) in a variety of modalities. Participants will be asked to maintain a Holistic Portfolio and to complete the requirements for the entire Series; carry out an optional Holistic Project.
Practice with Passion’s target audience is RNs from acute, community and independent practice settings who want to enhance their current practice. Other nursing and healthcare professionals are also welcome to attend, including consumers who believe these Professional Seminars may be of interest.
The purpose of the Series is to offer a unique blending of EAST/WEST (holistic) theories, principles and modalities for individuals who desire the benefits of professional reflective practice and who want to deliver integrative holistic patient care.
The Practice with Passion competencies are:
- Critically examine the art and science of integrative holistic practices and its impact on quality of care.
- Utilize evidence based research as the fundamental base of integrative holistic practice.
- Incorporate mind-body-spirit into self caring practices and those of patients and the community.
- Apply a variety of strategies to assess the mind-body-spirit of patients/families/communities which include holistic treatment plans and referrals.
- Expand awareness of the array of healing modalities available to patients and how to ensure their positive interaction with Western treatment regimens.
- Advance skills in various healing modalities which can be used in holistic practices.
- Develop a consciousness/action plan to identify and network with holistic community resources and appropriately link patients/families with the community.
- Acquire a transformational leadership style/approach needed to role model and champion integrative holistic practices for patients and their profession.
This activity has been submitted to the Arizona Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The Arizona Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
