Acupuncture Can Increase Fertility

Starting a family should be an exciting time for couples, but unfortunately, many couples have a difficult time conceiving a child, causing uncertainty about the future. Infertility specialists from all over the world are recommending acupuncture to help switch the body from infertile to fertile!

A study published in Fertility and Sterility showed that acupuncture treatments significantly increased pregnancy in patients receiving in vitro fertilization (IVF). The study had 80 patients receive a 25-minute acupuncture treatment prior to fertilization and another 25-minute acupuncture treatment immediately after fertilization. Another 80 patients received no acupuncture treatments. While both groups were able to get pregnant, 34 women who received acupuncture became pregnant compared to only 21 women who did not receive acupuncture.

Acupuncture helps prepare the body to accept life by adjusting your Qi which brings a restoring balance to the body. By placing painless needles at reproductive meridian points, Acupuncturists are able to move the Qi from areas where it may be too abundant to areas that are deficient. If the body is not in balance, infertility can occur.

For optimal results, women are recommended to receive acupuncture treatments for 3-4 months prior to IVF. Combining acupuncture treatments with herbal medicine can also increase fertility.
