PIHMA is a leader in Asian and Integrative Medicine. We are known to set standards for innovation in education and research, as well as fight for a holistic approach to medicine.

PIHMA was founded over 25 years ago making it the first Acupuncture and Asian Medicine educational program in Arizona. For the past quarter-century, PIHMA has helped over 330 graduates find a fulfilling career as an Acupuncturist and Herbalist. Our goal is to transform our student’s lives and help our alumni succeed in their own practices.

PIHMA wants to ensure that its students receive the best possible education in Asian Medicine, and that starts with research. On-campus, we have the National Library of Traditional Medicine and the Foundation for PIHMA Research & Education. The Foundation has conducted multiple types of research including basic science, clinical trial, community science, homeopathic proving, and education.

PIHMA has a reputation for defending Asian Medicine on the front lines. We have lobbied for licensing legislation, high standards, and public safety.

PIHMA strives to provide flexible scheduling options that are centered around the working individual. We provide weekend and evening programs, and varied clinic shifts, that allow students to continue their current profession or maintain family obligations. PIHMA prepares all its students for a successful and fulfilling career in Acupuncture. There are thousands of practicing acupuncturists in the United States, many of whom operate their own practices. In recent years, Asian medicine has become more accepted by the general public, creating even more job opportunities. Also, with healthcare costs drastically on the rise, people are looking for a natural and more affordable option, creating a demand for holistic medicine and a positive career outlook for Acupuncturists.

Private practices, hospital and clinic opportunities, spa and wellness, franchising, teaching, and educational administration are all fields that are open to a graduate or licensed Acupuncturist.
